The gastronomic quality award stars of the Michelin Guide has been awarded to special restaurants since 1926. The list in the “Guide Michelin”, a hotel and travel guide that is published in different countries every year, awards a maximum of 3 Michelin stars.
The award criteria are described as follows:
- 1 Star – A very fine cuisine worthy of the reader’s attention.
- 2 stars – Excellent cuisine, deserves a detour.
- 3 stars – One of the best kitchens, worth the trip.
11 stars awarded by the Michelin Gourmet Guide 2023 for the best restaurants in Puglia.
On the Apulian map of haute cuisine, Lecce and Trani are the two provincial capitals that can boast starred restaurants – two in each city: in the capital of Salento, Lecce, they are the Bros. and the Primo Restaurantwhile in Trani the Quintessenza and the Casa Sgarra are confirmed at a high level.
In the province of Brindisi these are the Due Camini in Savelletri, the Cielo in Ostuni and the Già sotto l’Arco in Carovigno; in the province of Bari, the Pashà in Conversano and the Angelo Sabatelli restaurant in Putignano; in the province of Taranto, the Casamatta in Manduria and in the province of Foggia, the Porta di Basso in Peschici.
