The 79th edition of the Italy Golf Open 2022, Open d’italia di Golf, will again be held in Rome.

 

Perhaps it’s the atmosphere of the nearby 2023 Ryder Cup in Rome or the renewed interest in golf in Italy. The Italian Golf Open 2022 is becoming more and more popular, it is now an established reality in European golf. Three of the eleven best players in the world, several Italian and German players, three major champions and a prize money of three million euros will be present on the golf course of the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club near Rome.

The 79th DS Automobiles Italian Open will be one of the most important tournaments of the DP World Tour. The Rolex Pro-Am is for Wednesday, September 14, scheduled. The professional golf tournament is organized by the September 15 to 18 will be held in Guidonia Montecelio near the Italian capital Rome.

Among the participating golf professionals is Rory McIlroy, Major winner, who has just won the FedEx Cup and is the only player to have done so three times. The Northern Irishman was joined by local hero Francesco Molinari and Britain’s Matthew Fitzpatrick (who won the US Open in June). Norwegian Hovland, one of the best athletes in Europe, is also one of the best players in the competition.

Fitzpatrick is second and Hovland fourth in the DP World Tour rankings, which are also led by Rory McIlroy.

Italy Golf Open, free entry in 2022

 

To receive free admission to the Marco Simone Golf & Coutry Club, registration is required on the event website. A major campaign by the Italian Golf Federation, in collaboration with official consultant Infront, aims to introduce a growing number of people to a fast-growing sport. Sky Sport will broadcast the tournament live.

A total of 72 holes will be played throughout the competition. The top 65 finishers will remain in the tournament after the first two elimination rounds. There are three million euros to be won, with prize money for the first-place winner amounting to 510,000 euros. The Rolex Pro-Am will be held on Wednesday before the competition.

An Italy Golf Open 2022 for the families

From 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., children can practice sports and activities such as basketball, fencing, sailing (on a simulator boat), tennis, boxing, shooting and archery under the guidance of experienced educators and federal coaches.

For a rousing and exciting Open, even for the youngest fans, which aims to bring golf to more children through the use of US KIDS equipment and proposed prophylactic activities.
PGAI instructors will be on hand to give everyone who wants to feel the exhilaration of their first swing a chance to take a first golf swing.

The Italians in the fight for victory

 

From Francesco Laporta to Guido Migliozzi will be in Rome (best Italian at the Open both in 2019 and 2021, when he finished fourth). Furthermore, the following players will be present. Filippo Celli, Andrea Pavan, Lorenzo Gagli, Renato Paratore and Nino Bertasio. The latter, together with Pietro Bovari and Marco Florioli, won The former Filippo Celli won the silver medal at the Open, before taking home the gold medal at the World Amateur Team Championships in Paris this year, together with Pietro Bovari.

The Italy Golf Open will be held for the seventh time in the region of Lazio, because the region is known for its golf. Some examples: Circolo Golf Roma Acquasanta had three editions (1950, 1973 and 1980), Olgiata Golf Club had two (2002 and 2019) and the same number at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club (1994, 2021).
